At 19:48 on 7th November 2024, two fire engines from Tarleton and Penwortham, along with two appliances from Merseyside, attended a rescue of a horse on Rydings Lane, Banks. The horse was stuck in a ditch. After being sedated by a vet, two fire service swift water technicians fitted large strops around the horse, and fire crews extricated it. Fire crews were in attendance for approximately one hour and fifty minutes.
