At 05:00, five fire engines from Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service attended a fire involving a domestic property on Manchester Road in Nelson. Firefighters used four breathing apparatus to extinguish the fire. One casualty suffering the effects of smoke inhalation was assessed at the scene by North West Ambulance Service. The cause of the fire is under investigation
