On 20th September 2024 at 08:43 hours, four fire engines from Ormskirk, Skelmersdale, Wigan, and Chorley attended a road traffic collision on the M58 motorway between junctions 5 and 6 eastbound. Crews made the scene safe, and one casualty was assessed by the North West Ambulance Service. Fire crews were in attendance for thirty minutes.
