At 17:39 hours on 11th December 2024, three fire engines from Skelmersdale and Atherton, along with the water bowser and a supporting fire engine from Leyland, attended an incident on the M58 motorway at Junction 4. The incident involved a fire in an electric car on the hard shoulder. Firefighters extinguished the fire using one hose reel. Fire crews were on the scene for approximately one hour and ten minutes.
