At 14:10 on the 4th April 2025, four fire engines from Blackburn, Leyland and Preston attended a large vehicle fire on the M6 between the M6 and M61 Junction. Firefighters wore breathing apparatus and used two hose reel jets and two triple extension ladders to extinguish the fire. Crews were in attendance for one hour and thirty minutes.
