At 08:01 on 31 August, three fire engines from Rawtenstall, Nelson, and Darwen attended an animal rescue on Bacup Road, Rawtenstall, Rossendale. The incident involved a dog that had become trapped in a river. Firefighters used a triple extension ladder and swift water rescue equipment to rescue the animal. They were in attendance for approximately forty minutes.
