Welcome to our Annual Service Report for 2023-24

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service has published its Annual Service Report for 2023-24.

Last year, the Service exceeded its targets for delivering interventions in homes and businesses designed to prevent fires, and emergency response capabilities were strengthened through innovation and investment.

Chief Fire Officer, Justin Johnston, said:

Adapting to changing risks in communities and finding new ways to make Lancashire safer is a continuous endeavour, and one which we are motivated and driven to succeed in doing.

Last year saw the introduction of an underwater drone, the first in any UK fire and rescue service, and state-of-the-art incident command units for more effective management of complex and large-scale emergencies.

I am particularly proud of how we improved our community focussed home and business fire safety check services over the year, providing targeted interventions to keep families safe in their homes and support employers and landlords to keep people safe in their buildings.

During the year, our firefighting teams responded to over 17,000 incidents. The complexity and scale of these events have not only tested but also showcased the exceptional skills and commitment of our staff.

At the heart of all that we achieve are people dedicated to making a difference in Lancashire’s communities.
