At 00:12 hours on 4th June, fire engines from Chorley and Horwich, along with a water bowser from Leyland, responded to a fire on the M61 southbound between junctions 9 and 8. Firefighters utilised two sets of breathing apparatus and one hose reel to extinguish the fire. The crews were on the scene for approximately one hour.
